Since 2002, Sherwood has consistently pumped out infectious indie pop with the perfect amount of west coast flavor and harmony. They’ve made their name with upbeat melodies and songs that play like anthems to summer. Recently the band released their third full-length QU, a welcome addition to their already sunny catalog of musical goodness.

A highly anticipated new album with famous producer Brad Wood and a hot tour across the country would be the ultimate for most bands, but Sherwood has all this and and then some: bobbleheads. You know you’ve arrived when you can successfully peddle bobbleheads of your keyboard player.

Thankfully they’re as nice as they are cool. Joe from Sherwood took a few moments to chat with Brad briefly about the band and some of the things they’re passionate about beyond music.

LoveInStereo: What are you working on now?

Joe: Our third album QU just came out in October; we spent the fall touring with Better Than Ezra and Hanson, as well as doing some radio promotion work.

LIS: Heading out for tour again anytime soon?

Joe: We’re now planning a February-April nationwide headlining tour. Gonna be awesome!

LIS: I share your love of The Beach Boys, but beyond your obvious passion for great music what else are you passionate about?

Joe: We’ve worked with a number of causes — most notably a company called Blood:Water Mission who combat HIV/AIDS and dig fresh water wells in third world countries, and a website called The Hunger Site where people can donate food for FREE by simply clicking a button. There are so many great causes out there and we’re very excited to bring attention to these ones.

LIS: You’ve stayed a consistently solid band in many ways. What keeps you inspired?

Joe: Inspiration has many sources, whether real-life experiences or imagination, beautiful scenery or a great movie. The possibilities are endless.

LIS: What do you think moves you guys to keep creating music?

Joe: Creating gives us an amazing feeling of accomplishment and purpose; it rewards us deeply in ways that nothing else seems to.

LIS: What is one change the world desperately needs?

Joe: Forgiveness and understanding. I guess that’s two things. Sorry!

Pick up QU online and in stores now. Also check out The Sherwood Show the often hilarious web series that gives you a refreshing glimpse of a band that doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Also, if you’re looking for a Sherwood bobblehead – sorry they’re sold out, but you can get a glimpse at what could’ve once been yours at MikeyBobbleheads.com.
